There is room in the pool. A considerable amount of room.
The elephants in this clip have nevertheless found a very popular patch of it. Their size makes the scene impressive; their closeness makes it funny. It has the familiar look of a whole group choosing the same few feet of a place with plenty of other options.
Watch the space between them
On the first watch, the water and trunks may take most of your attention. On the next, follow the gap between the animals. That small piece of space is what makes the scene feel like an interaction rather than two separate bathers.
We do not know their relationship from this footage. We also cannot tell you why each move happened. “Pool friend” is the human nickname for the moment, rather than a claim about a pair of elephants' history.
The visible part is plenty: big bodies, moving water, and the decision to remain very near each other for these few seconds.
No empty-lane ambitions
Sometimes an animal clip needs an explanation. This one mostly needs the wider view. Seeing all that available water makes the little cluster land immediately.
The pool seems spacious. The preferred seating area is apparently much more specific.
